Cosmos painted on Pink Tourmaline, the birth flower and birth stone for October
Pink tourmaline is associated with gentleness, compassion, joy, and love. The name tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese word “toramalli,” meaning “stone with mixed colours.” This is because many tourmaline gems feature multiple colours in one crystal formation, and some can also appear to be different shades when looked at from different angles.
Cosmos flowers are known to symbolise harmony, peace, and balance, which is reflected in the Greek word “kosmos,”meaning “order” or “harmony.” This symbolism comes from the harmonious arrangement of their petals and their ability to create a sense of tranquillity and serenity in the garden.
October babies are said to be friendly, balanced and positive in their approach to life. They are also determined and never give up!
This painting is A5, created using a mixture of acrylic, watercolour and pencil. Each painting in the set is finished in a beautiful double mounted, bespoke frame in navy blue by Anchovy and Oyster.
