February - Violets on Amethyst

Violets painted on Amethyst, the birth flower and birth stone for February.

Amethyst is said to be the stone of peace and has been a prized gem for centuries. The stone is included in royal collections all over the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels. It is a spiritual stone and calms fears, raises hopes and lifts the spirits, The meaning of amethyst is attached to serenity, understanding, trust and grace.

Violets are edible and were once used in love potions! They have a sweet, floral flavour and are sometimes used as garnishes in salads, desserts, and beverages.  Nowadays, violets are a symbol of virtue, modesty, and faithfulness.

Those born in February are said to be honest, humble, wise and innocent,  making them pretty good people to be around.
